Way
Moving Your Vehicle
PAF can make arrangements to send
your automobile, SUV or pick up truck to or from anywhere in the
USA
and
Alaska. Rates vary depending on the height and length of the vehicle. When
sending vehicles to/from
Alaska, they need to be delivered to the ocean carrier’s terminal at the
port
of
Tacoma
or Anchorage
after a bill of lading and booking number has been provided by PAF.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is my vehicle insured against
damage while in-transit?
Yes if you deliver it to the ocean
carrier’s terminal and they ship it to the destination port. You
must deliver the vehicle in clean condition so that an inspection
can be made at the port upon delivery.
Can I ship my household goods in
my vehicle?
Not if you are delivering it to the
ocean carrier’s terminal to be shipped on it’s own and there is
no Insurance coverage for anything that is left in the vehicle. PAF
will ship your household goods separately.
How much fuel can be in the
vehicle?
You can only have a quarter tank of
fuel due to US Coast Guard Hazardous Materials regulations. Any
greater amount than a quarter tank will need to be removed and you
will be responsible for the charges
to remove it. If you load the vehicle into a container or trailer
you must also disconnect the battery and leave the key in the
ignition. Take a spare key with you.
What about freezing temperatures?
It is your responsibility to insure
that your vehicle has adequate anti freeze protection, before you
deliver it to the port. The vehicle will not be shipped in a heated
environment and temperatures in Alaska
can be extremely cold.
What information is required to
ship the vehicle?
You will need to complete and sign a
bill of lading, which PAF can provide, with the following
information;
- Make,
model and year of the vehicle
- License
plate number
- Vehicle
VIN number [which you can find on the registration]

After I drop off my vehicle how do
I get to the airport or back to my house?
PAF has the phone numbers of several
taxi companies in each location that can provide you with a ride to
your destination from the port.
