Moving The
PAF Way
Moving? You Pack
It, We Move It!
Pacific Alaska Freightways offers a
cost effective alternative to the high priced national moving and
storage companies. We bring a trailer to your house, you load and
pack the trailer, knowing that you can handle your items with the
care that your valuables deserve. Pacific Alaska Freightways picks up
the trailer when you are finished and delivers it direct to your new
house. Your personal effects are not touched or transferred and you
receive them the same way you loaded them. It's that easy! We also
offer several other services including different sizes of trailers,
packaging materials and boxes for sale.
An
alternate service option is our partnership with Door
to Door Storage to offer you a new and innovative approach to moving
your personal
effects and household items
between Alaska and the lower 48! We deliver a 5' x 8 'x 8' crate
right to your house or business; you load it and call us to pick it
up when it's done. We can then send & deliver the crate to your
new location just about anywhere in the US.

Trailer
Information
Pacific
Alaska Freightways can help you get your household goods/personal
effects moved to and from anywhere in the USA to and from Alaska.
PAF will spot a 28, 40 or 45 foot trailer to your house for two days
free and you can load and secure your goods inside the trailer and
then wall it off. The trailer will be delivered to your final
destination where you will have 2 days to unload it. You will pay
for the amount of floor space you utilize in the trailer. All
household good movements need to be prepaid.
Estimator - How much of the
trailer will I use?
PAF has 28, 40 and 45 foot long
trailers that are approximately 7’ 8” wide and 8’ 10” high.
This is much larger than most rental trucks.
As a rule of thumb allow 210 cubic
feet of loading space for each room in your house. Allow extra room
for bulky pieces of furniture, outdoor furniture, lawn mowers and
large appliances. The following is only for estimating and should
not be utilized to figure out costs as they will vary depending on
the actual amount of space you use in the trailer.

Securing Your
Household Goods In The Trailer
Load all your household goods into
the front of the trailer and pack them tight with lots of packaging
and protection, so they will ride safely and damage free. Place
heavy items on the floor and light bulky items on top of them. The
better you pack and load your goods, the greater the chance they
will arrive at your final destination in good condition. Utilize as
little space as possible as you will be paying for the
amount of space you use in the trailer.
You can secure and segregate your
goods by then building a wall out of 4x8 plywood and 2x4’s
blocking this section off from the rest of the trailer. You can nail
into the floor of the trailer but not the walls or ceiling. The
trailers have ribs in them and you can wedge the 2x4’s into the
walls and ceiling to help in the securing process. At most PAF
Alaska terminals packaging supplies are available for purchase.
